now I KNOW that five nights at freddy's 3 is by far one of the least liked games out of the series, but i love it anyways. i remember the games crazy effect on the fnaf community when it came out, everyone was scrambling to understand the lore and figure out all the hidden tricks the game had to offer. it was prob one of those "you had to be there" things, and also was not helped with my childhood OBSESSION with springtrap (he's so cool!).
i was, what, 9-10ish when fnaf 3 released and holy cow did springtrap flood my sketchbooks back then. his design just OOZES scary and cool! the rips and tears, the eerie steely eyes, the wide grin that's almost a grimace, the guts poking out of the seams of his suit--soooo awesome. definitely my favorite design of the entire series.
people are gonna throw tomatoes at me for this but i love his jumpscares. a common complaint is that he just walks up to you, that its not scary because its not in your face and freakishly loud. i really feel the opposite, however. i think the fact that his "jumpscare" is more like a predator stalking its prey, more human than aggressive machine, really works with his past as a murderer. its not blind, uncontrollable anger that motivates him, he's inquisitive, almost like he's studying you right before he kills you, and i honestly find that much scarier.
a neat sidenote is that, since it's michael as the protag in fnaf 3 as usual, this curiousity springtrap displays could actually be him recognizing his son before killing him.
